NAME: War of the Worlds - The Musical Version CREATOR: Unicorn Lady Welcome! Includes: 5 themes (Eve Of The War, Horsell Common, Thunder Child, The Red Weed, Dead London), 10 wallpapers (5 each 1024 and 800), 3 sets of cursors, 5 sets of icons, Rockwell Condensed font and 31 MPEG wave sounds. The Earth is under siege from the Martians--all appears lost. A tribute to Jeff Wayne's excellent musical production of War Of The Worlds based on the Orson Wells Mercury Theatre radio production that caused such a stir in 1938. Narrated by Richard Burton in the role of the journalist. The music is wonderful and Richard Burton's narration is superb. I highly recommend this 2-CD set! First released in 1978 as a 2-record album, it achieved international success, including worldwide hit singles "The Eve Of The War" and "Forever Autumn". It has won two Ivor Novello Awards along with the 1979 "Best Recording In Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy" in the United States (among the judges were Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Alfred Hitchcock). It was re-released in 1995 on audio CD. It has since been released a couple more times in different formats. The 2005 re-release (stereo/surround sound), became one of the big hits of the year occupying 10 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of the UK Album charts. NO STARTUP/SHUTDOWN (LOGO) SCREENS are included with this theme. No longer have the capability of testing them properly and most people probably can't use them anyway. CREDITS WALLPAPERS: Images used were adapted from the artwork included with the original two-record album release, except for Eve Of The War, which is a composite of images from various sources. Artists for the other paintings are: Horsell Common Peter Goodfellow Thunder Child: Michael Trim The Red Weed: Geoff Taylor Dead London: Geoff Taylor MUSIC: All waves were recorded from the 1995 2-CD set entitled Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds, narrated by Richard Burton in the role of the journalist. It's an outstanding set to own. I absolutely love the music and Richard Burton's narration is superb. I highly recommend it. TO INSTALL THEME: 1. Double click the EXE. file. 2.
