Windows NT 3.5/3.51 Does Not Recognized CD-ROM Attached To A Sound Blaster 16 IDE Card

Problem:

When installing Windows NT 3.5/3.51 on a system with Sound Blaster 16 IDE card, the CD-ROM is not recognized.

Cause:

Windows NT only supports primary and secondary IDE port. By default, the IDE port on the Sound Blaster 15 card is set to third IDE port which is not supported by Windows NT.

Solution:

To solve this problem you can try out the procedure below:-

Note: The CD-ROM must be configured as MASTER if it is alone on the channel and SLAVE if it is on the same channel as the harddisk.
