"Please ensure a Audio CD is inserted properly in the drive or the MCI CD Audio is not installed!" Error

Problem:

Error message "Please ensure a Audio CD is inserted properly in the drive or the MCI CD Audio is not installed!" when playing any CD Audio from the QuickCD program after installation of the CD-ROM Installation Disk under Windows 95.

Solution:

This error message is caused by installing the floppy version of Windows 95 which does not have the CD-ROM utlities. It can also be that when installing the CD-ROM version of Windows 95, you have choosen not to install the CD Player.

If the Windows 95 installed is the floppy version, download and install the CD Player applet from Microsoft's web site at www.microsoft.com. Otherwise, use the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel to install the CD Player.
