Creative Announces ShareVision Products Will Support New Data Sharing And Video Conferencing Standards

LAS VEGAS -- November 13, 1995 -- Creative Technology Ltd. (Nasdaq:CREAF) today announced that its ShareVision desktop video conferencing products will support the forthcoming H.324 video conferencing standard for analog telephone lines, as well as the new T.120 standard for data sharing in whiteboards and application sharing.

ShareVision PC3000 is the company's premiere desktop video conferencing system that allows users to communicate via voice, data sharing, and color video at up to 15 frames per second, all over a single regular phone line. The system features a high-speed fax/modem, a headset, application software, a color video camera, a voice/data compression card and a video capture and compression card. ShareVision software includes both whiteboarding and true application sharing, as well file transfers, and full-screen video snapshots.

"Compliance with emerging telecommunications standards is key to Creative's success in video conferencing", said Lung Yeh, vice president of ShareVision products for Creative Technology Ltd. When completed, the H.324 standard will enable interoperability between different video conferencing systems, over a regular phone line. Similarly, T.120 standards will enable interoperability for data sharing between users in whiteboarding and application sharing. "Creative's ShareVision products will be standards-compliant, which is ultimately of great value to consumers," said Yeh. "By developing and working with industry and international telecommunications standards, such as Windows 95, and soon, T.120 and H.324, we can assure our customers will get high-performance products that are designed to work seamlessly with each other and not become obsolete with changes in the marketplace."

The developing POTS video conferencing standard, and the existing data sharing standard, are the result of work by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), formerly known as the CCITT. The international body has been responsible for creating the existing H.320 standard for ISDN-based video conferencing systems, as well as modem and fax standards which allow different manufacturers' equipment to work seamlessly with each other.
