Sound From Sound Blaster Card Still Continues After Exiting Windows

Problem:

Your Sound Blaster Pro continues to play the System Exit sound in MS-DOS after exiting From Windows 3.1x.

Cause:

There is more than one version of Sound Blaster Pro virtual device driver listed in the SYSTEM.INI file's [386Enh] section. This will cause the sound card to continue playing the System Exit sound after exiting from Windows. You can check the SYSTEM.INI file's [386Enh] section for the following entries:

DEVICE=VSBD.386

DEVICE=VADLIBD.386

DEVICE=VSBPD.386

Solution:

To resolve this problem you would have to remove the first two lines if they are present leaving only:

DEVICE=VSBP.386
