Creative Announces Blaster CD 6x

New CD-ROM Upgrade Kit Features Creative's Own High Performance 6x Drive

MILPITAS -- August 21, 1995 -- Creative Labs, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd. (Nasdaq:CREAF), today introduced Blaster CD™ 6x -- a high-end CD-ROM upgrade kit for home and business power users. Blaster CD 6x features Creative's own hex-speed IDE CD-ROM drive which offers a 50 percent increase in data transfer rate, a significant jump in performance over today's quad-speed CD-ROM drives. Blaster CD 6x includes a CD-ROM interface card and Grolier Electronic Publishing's award winning Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia™. The product will be available in September at retail stores for a projected price of $299.99.

Creative's 6x speed, internal, IDE CD-ROM drive offers a 900 KB per second transfer rate, a data access rate of 220 ms and 256 KB of cache memory. It is multi-session, Kodak Photo CD compatible, exceeds MPC Level 2 specifications and it is CD-ROM XA ready. The drive also features an automatic front-loading tray, a front panel headphone jack and volume control for playback of audio CDs. In addition, it includes an IDE CD-ROM interface card and support for Microsoft Windows '95.
