Troubleshooting 3D Blaster/3D Games

Using Two Monitors

If your system hangs or a black screen appears, you may wish to use two monitors to help you in setting up your system. Connect one monitor to the MONITOR OUT jack of the 3D Blaster card and connect the other monitor to the VGA card's output. If you use only one monitor, any error message will be hidden in VGA mode when the monitor hangs at a black screen.

With another monitor connected to the VGA card, you can see the error message encountered. This provides a minimum set of information for troubleshooting the error.

Mouse Drivers

If the 3D game hangs while running or is unable to run at all, do not load the mouse driver as it may be the cause of the problem. Try with another mouse driver; for example, Microsoft MOUSE.COM ver 8.20.

Memory Managers

Games written to work with DOS4GW do not require expanded memory managers. There might be problems running the bundled 3D games if memory managers are loaded. Disable the EMM386 or other memory manager, such as QEMM386, statement from the CONFIG.SYS file.

TSR Programs

Do not load VSHIELD.COM, DOSKEY.COM, ANSI.SYS or other DOS TSRs when running the 3D games. Otherwise, it may cause a memory region to crash or give problems to the games when running.
