Creative Ships Sound Blaster 32 Plug and Play

Next Generation Sound Blaster Offers Affordable Professional Audio, Windows 95 Compatibility, Creative's Advanced 3D Audio Technology

SINGAPORE -- October 24, 1995 -- Creative Technology Ltd. (Nasdaq:CREAF) today announced Sound Blaster™ 32 PnP, the second in a series of cards that provide next generation Sound Blaster technologies which include: EMU8000-based professional 32-voice wave table music synthesis, special effects such as reverb, chorus, and panning, 3D stereo enhancement, Plug and Play and Windows® 95 compatibility. Sound Blaster 32 PnP is also upgradeable to Sound Blaster AWE32 functionality with SoundFont™ technology, and E-mu's 3D Positional Audio. Sound Blaster 32 PnP is targeted at gamers and multimedia enthusiasts interested in upgrading their PC's sound by adding real instrument sounds and special effects, CD quality, 16-bit digital audio and 3D stereo enhancement for a more realistic gaming and multimedia experience. It will be available this month for a projected street price of $169.99.

"Sound Blaster 32 PnP furthers Creative's strategy of aligning the Sound Blaster PC audio standard with Windows 95 as a standard operating system," said Arnold Waldstein, vice president of U.S. software and product marketing for Creative Labs, Inc., Creative Technology Ltd.'s U.S. subsidiary. "Sound Blaster is the PC audio standard because it represents the best technology, the best software support, and the best value in the industry. By working with other industry standards, such as Microsoft® Windows 95, Creative ensures that consumers get industry standard products that are designed to work seamlessly with one another."

Sound Blaster 32 PnP is a wave table audio card with features that make it suitable for a wide variety of multimedia applications. The card utilizes EMU8000-based wave table technology to generate real instrument sounds, rather than synthesized sounds, for playback of audio in multimedia and music applications. The EMU8000 technology (which is also incorporated in the award-winning Sound Blaster AWE32) generates special digital effects such as chorus, reverb, delay and pan to provide an even more realistic multimedia experience. New technology features included are Creative's 3D Stereo Enhancement that produces a richer, more spacious sound, and the capability to upgrade to Creative's SoundFont technology and E-mu's 3D Positional Audio that immerses the user in a more realistic 3D sound environment.

"Sound Blaster 32 PnP is an ideal solution for any user that wants true Sound Blaster compatibility and wave table technology for the most realistic audio for entertainment, music, and multimedia applications," said Kim Federico, senior product marketing manager, for Creative Labs, Inc. "By combining real instrument sounds with Creative's 3D stereo enhancement, upgradeability to E-mu's 3D Positional Audio with full Windows 95 and Plug-and-Play support, Sound Blaster 32 PnP boosts the entire multimedia experience to a new level."

Sound Blaster is the audio standard for the PC and a requirement to ensure support for thousands of software products. Sound Blaster 32 PnP brings Sound Blaster compatibility to a new level of technical quality with E'mu's acclaimed wave table synthesis, Creative's 3D stereo enhancement for the highest fidelity, and E-mu's 3D Positional Audio for a true 3D experience, delivered with 100% Windows 95 compatibility.
