Getting Your IDE CD ROM Drive To Work In Windows 95 MS DOS Mode

• If the CDROM drive is connected to the IDE port of a Plug-and-Play sound card, install Creative Configuration Manager CTCM first to initialise your Plug-and-Play sound card (see Configuring Creative Plug-and-Play Cards). However, if the CDROM drive is connected to the onboard IDE port of a non Plug-and-Play IDE sound card, then skip the installation of CTCM and continue with the following:
  • Shut down to Win95 DOS mode, and check the contents of the C:\WINDOWS\DOSSTART.BAT file which should look like below:

       C:\[Path]\CTLOAD c:\[Path]\{CDROM Driver} /{Driver Parameters}
       C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001
       The CDROM driver should be loaded before the MSCDEX command.
       E.g. C:\SBCD\DOSDRV\CTLOAD C:\SBCD\DOSDRV\SBIDE.SYS /D:MSCD001 
       /V /P:1E8,11
            C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE  /D:MSCD001 /V /M:15

• If your system has a non Plug-and-Play Sound Blaster card with an IDE interface and another PnP card, e.g. CT2810 and a 3D Blaster card installed, do the following:
  • Check the CDROM Installation Disk ID used. If it is IDE-W95-01-ENG, then
    • remove the 3D Blaster card
    • install the CD-ROM driver
    • plug in the 3D Blaster card
  • or, use the CDROM Installation disk ID, IDE-W95-02-ENG to install the CDROM driver.
