Creative Launches Discovery CD 4x Multimedia Upgrade Kit

August 17th 1995, Creative Labs - the leading provider of multimedia products for the PC - today announced Sound Blaster Discovery CD 4x, the newest addition to its quad-speed line of multimedia kits for the PC. Sound Blaster Discovery CD 4x brings the latest CD-ROM technology to families looking for a high performance, low-cost upgrade option.

The product combines an industry standard Sound Blaster 16 audio card, an internal quad-speed IDE CD-ROM drive and a total of 18 educational and entertainment software titles. The suggested retail price for the Sound Blaster Discovery CD 4x is £300 ex VAT.

The IDE quad-speed CD-ROM drive has a transfer rate of 600KB per second and an access time of better than 250ms; and it is multi-session, Kodak Photo CD-compatible. Sound Blaster 16 is wave table synthesis upgradeable and provides CD-quality stereo sampling and playback. Stereo speakers are also included in the kit. The following software titles are included:
