Creative Labs Sound Blaster CT4700 DOS Drivers ---------------------------------------------- These are the DOS Sound Drivers for Sound Blaster PCI 128 Related Sound Cards, but specifically for Model Number CT4700. These were taken from the Original Installation in Windows 98 Second Edition on my own computer with this exact Sound Card in it. A word of advice do not attempt to Install the actual Sound Drivers from the Creative CD when you are using Windows XP, probably also Windows 2000. Mark my words on the Older Sound Cards the DOS Drivers are becoming less available so make sure that you be kind to others and upload them also. That is the main reason why I have done this is because these drivers are getting harder to get a hold of and they are still very useful for those older DOS games and other such stuff that doesn't run well in Windows XP or other operating systems. I wrote this readme.txt file myself. This readme.txt file has nothing to do with Sound Blaster or Creative Labs in any sort. I wrote this file because I have myself put in tons of hours in getting DOS Drivers so I am saving you guys trouble by writing what I have learned about this Sound Card. By the way the .org files that came with this package are the original files of those files. They are used for reference they are not meant for anything else other than for reference. I also changed one of the file names because the original readme.txt (also from that install) name that file had would not allow me to copy it into the same directory so I changed that to "Maunal Update.txt". It was originally called "Readme.txt" that's the reason I changed its file name. If you are actually from the Creative or Sound Blaster employment team and have some how got a hold of this file and are not happy with how I have changed things, well I am not happy with you not making it easy for people to find these DOS Drivers either so there. What I have done in modifications to these files is in no danger of removing the Creative Labs Originality. These files are provided for easiness of DOS Sound Driver downloading. They are in no way any attempt to be rude or break any lines of copyright, law or anything you have regarding these products. Besides if you have so much as interest in what I have done to such files it is mapped out here for you and pretty simple. I made a few personal modifications to the Sndscape.ini file just so you know. Here are those modifications as follows: -------------------------------------------------- ; Mixer Settings - Wave, Synth, and CD volumes MasterVol=60 WaveVol=127 SynthVol=127 CDVol=127 ; Waveset - path and file name of current waveset SynthFile=C:\DOSDRV\EAPCI2M.ECW -------------------------------------------------- From what I know I am sure that you can put these DOS Sound Drivers in any directory you please, but make sure that change the paths to match such changes. Those paths are the Synth File in the Sndscape.ini and the SET SNDSCAPE in the Autoexec.bat file. *Now this is really important to your DOS Sound. Make sure that you put the following lines (modified correctly of course) into your Autoexec.bat file. Just so you know these are the lines I extracted out of the Autoexec.bat file upon that same installation...Here they are as follows: ----------------------------------------- SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T2 SET SNDSCAPE=C:\WINDOWS ----------------------------------------- Modify the C:\Windows part to the correct path where the Sndscape.ini really is. If you do these things right then your DOS sound should work just fine. I could not do these things because every computer is not the same. Have Fun with your Sound Drivers and your DOS games or what ever you needed them for!
