Quake2-3.19-VS2005 is the original quake source from ID software recompiled in Visual Studio 2005. The source is original and untouched, I have mainly optimized the compiler settings to generate the fastest binaries as possible whit out breaking anything. This is my first release so there might be bugs I have not encountered. On my Via C3 Nehemaih it gives me about a 10% improvement in frame rate over the standard 3.20 patch. **If you have a AMD K6-2/3 or an older Via C3 with 3Dnow! I recommend the AMD 3Dnow! patch instead.** To install the patch simply install Quake 2 and patch it with the 3.20 patch then copy the contents in quake2-3.19-VS2005, quake2.exe, ref_gl.dll and gamex86.dll in baseq2. If you are using a 3dfx card I suggest trying out the 3dfxgl.dll in the minigl folder. I did not compile this one, but its still usually faster then the one that comes with Quake 2. You can also try the config.cfg and autoexec.cfg, they gave me a nice boost of at least another 10% on my C3 processor. I see no reason why this should not work on any other CPU like a Pentium 3 etc. I did not compile this to be compatible with modern windows, it might work but it might not. It was specificity intended for Windows 98 (SE included) and older hardware for retro gaming. I take no responsibility for any damage caused by any of the files included here, use at your own risk!
